this was the hope for the future
far from the heavy machines
lawns as green as the fifties
cul de sacs for the kids
somebody needled the bubble
somebody pulled out the rug
thank god for tents and for trailers
thank god for parking lots
one man's house is another man's gold
you do for yours i'll take care of my own
knock knock knock nobody home
possession is all the law i know
we're mining copper
we're pulling wire
until it's empty
all night all night
take me to yuba city
get on the party bus
row upon row of unwanted
waiting for me to come
hammers clippers and strippers
the plaster in the air
i only see the potential
where others see despair
one man's house is another man's gold
you do for yours i'll take care of my own
knock knock knock nobody home
possession is all the law i know
we're mining copper
we're pulling pipe
until it's empty
all night all night
i dream of empty buildings
banks and the stock exchange
they sell the vapour of finance
i sell the real thing

I love each of them separately, and found my way here via Glen Phillips' other solo work...but together?! WOW!
How about a follow-up? ❤️ Geoffrey Gamble
This album has many of my favorite tracks of Glen’s: Shorn (probably my favorite song, period), solo version of Enough, No Blue Sky (I LOVE Shawn Mullins’ version, but this is exquisite) and his version of American Tune is delightful. adriannecausey
